Do you accept NYSHIP (The Empire Plan) for massage therapy?

Yes, we accept NYSHIP as a provider for medical massage therapy. You are entitled to 20 medical massages per year.

Most Empire Plan members are eligible for a maximum of 20 medically necessary massage therapy visits per calendar year. Please be aware that this coverage is subject to your annual deductible and coinsurance

Yes, a valid doctor’s prescription is required to begin your medical massage therapy sessions. To be accepted, the prescription must include your name, date of birth, a specific billable medical diagnosis code (ICD-10), the prescribed treatment (medical massage), the frequency and duration of care, and your prescribing physician’s details.

 

Under NYSHIP policy, massage therapy prescriptions are valid for 6 months from the date they are written.

 

While standard massages focus on general relaxation, medical massage effectively targets and alleviates chronic pain conditions, muscle tension, and mobility issues based on a doctor’s specific diagnosis. Techniques are utilized to speed up the healing process, reduce muscle soreness, and optimize overall recovery.
